Amid uncertainty over the future of foreign companies' mining conventions embroiled in a revision process that has been going on for several months, lawyers who specialise in the sector are taking the initiative. During the Indaba conference in Cape Town, South Africa last week, these lawyers were queuing up to take the microphone and ask for indications on timing for the conclusion of the revisions. This happened during the presentation by the Vice-Minister for Mines Victor Shomary Kasongo on February 5 and at the Congo-K breakfast organised the next day at the Westin Grand.
