Effect of dietary supplementation of mannan oligosaccharide on growth and survival of giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii

Experiment was conducted in triplicate groups on freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii juvenile(0.84±0.01g) to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation of mannan oligosaccharide on growth and survival. The differentdietary mannan oligosaccharide levels were used 0.0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 g kg -1 diet.After 60 days of feeding there was significant (p < 0.05) increment in terms of weight, weight gain, specific growth, survivalpercentage and lower FCR recorded in 1.5 g kg -1 mannan oligosaccharide supplemented group as compared to other groups.The results imply the positive effect of dietary supplementation of mannan oligosaccharide (1.5 g kg -1 ) in the culture offreshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii.
