Ophir spuds north Tanzania deep LNG hopeful

Ophir Energy has spudded a dcepwater wildcat off Tanzania, trying to open up a new play further north than any of the recent gas discoveries and give the country a second LNG project. The Deepsea Metro I drillship has spudded the Miinzi Mbali well in Block 7 with results expected in mid-January. It is not only the first well on Block 7 but the most northerly well drilled for many years and the first in the deepwater.
