Aminex Tanzania appraisal hopes

Aminex is hoping that the award of an appraisal licence will help progress talks with potential new partners for its acreage containing a gas discovery onshore Tanzania. The company has been looking for a new partner for its Ruvuma block since last year, when former operator Tullow Oil pulled out after the Ntorya find turned up gas rather than the hoped-for oil. Ntorya-1 tested gas at 20 MMcf/d and 139 b/d of condensate, thought to be a higher percentage of liquid hydrocarbons than has been encountered in any other well drilled in Tanzania. An independent estimate of gas discovered by this single well was 178 Bcf but Aminex believes it has further prospective recoverable resources of 753 Bcf.
