摘要

The mining business is thriving in Rwanda. Largely wiped out in 1994, the industry is expected to earn over USD 150 million in 2009 as opposed to 29 million in 2004. That will be a first breakthrough of the type in an economy which has been dominated up to now by services. Invited to the Indaba conference in Cape Town last week, Rwanda mines minister Vincent Karega outlined the potential of Rwanda which has often been accused of illicitly exploiting resources (cassiterite...) of its neighbour, Democratic Republic of Congo. Elsewhere, Karega pointed out there was no question of closing the border with Congo-K.
