Manganese Bankable at last?

Manganese mining at Tambao is once again on the agenda. The grading of this deposit in Burkina Faso is high at 51 percent, but up to now it has not been possible to develop it economically because there was no way to take the ore out. However, the development of the giant uranium mine at Imouraren in neighbouring Niger, due to produce 5,000t/year, opens new possibilities since the question of lengthening the Abidjan-Ouagadougou rail link (Sitarail/Bol-lore) to Niamey via Kaya has been mooted.
