摘要

While the shock waves from the murders at the In Amenas plant have yet to settle, what appears certain is that energy companies operating in North Africa will change the way they operate and that, outside Algeria, hopes for a resurrection in Libyan upstream activity in particular have been put on hold. The attack by suspected Islamist militants on the remote gas plant and the army's subsequent response left scores dead and highlighted a formidable new threat for oil companies investing throughout the region.
