Tanzania plans to build a gas pipeline to Uganda, following last month's decision by the governments to construct an oil line in the opposite direction. A host of potential pipeline routes are being bandied around in order to commercialise the oil and gas reserves in East Africa. "Several east African countries have asked to buy gas from Tanzania... to start with, the (Tanzanian) government plans to build a gas pipeline to Uganda," Tanzania's energy and minerals ministry said in a statement.
