Tanzania ultra-deep round finds sparse interest

The eight block licensing round for Tanzania garnered less interest than many had expected with an unusual collection of five mostly large operators putting in bids on only four of the blocks. Seven of the blocks are ultra-deepwater in the south outboard of the successful existing blocks but only the Statoil/ExxonMobil consortium put in a bid from the existing operators. Its bid was on Block 4/3A and China's CNOOC also put in a bid on this.
