Maersk meets to thin Angolan Chissonga list

Maersk is holding meetings with the remaining bidders for the FPSO and tension leg wellhead platform (TLWP) for the deep-water Chissonga project off Angola as it tries to thin the list. For the FPSO the only two remaining bidders are SBM and Modec, after BW Offshore and Teekay slipped off late last year. SBM has a long history of winning contracts in Angola and will currently be hurting after apparently losing out on the double FPSO Kaombo project for Total off the country. If rumours are true and Modec will be winning a large portion of the FPSO work for Total, then its desire and ability to conduct two contracts so close together may be in doubt. The pair are also talking to Cobalt International about another 100,000 b/d FPSO for Cameia off Angola.
