Continuous Charging of Hot Metal and Preheated Scrap in the EAF

This paper will outline the technology used at the Shaoguang Iron and Steel plant in China, where blast furnace hot metal in continuously charged in an EAF equipped with the Consteel scrap preheating system. Benefits, technical challenges and potential applications for minimill and integrated plants offered by this new technology will be presented.
