摘要

This paper will present wastewater treatment system performance data for key pollutants for the iron and steel industry that can be used as benchmarks for steel mill environmental management systems. Processes covered include: coke plant biological treatment; sinter plants and blast furnaces; BOF steelmaking, continuous casting and vacuum degassing; hot rolling mills; minimill continuous casters and hot rolling mills; steel finishing mills for carbon and low-alloy products; and stainless and nickel alloy production. Actual performance data will be presented for some of the best performing mills in North America in terms of effluent flow, effluent concentrations and mass discharge loadings normalized to production.
