Using Virtual Reality for Equipment Maintenance in Oil and Gas Industry

摘要

Virtual Reality (VR) training systems enable users to connect with PC simulated hardware and surroundings in exact authenticity. In VR workers can be trained off-site utilizing VR without upsetting ordinary work schedules or exposing them to the dangers of playing out an untried or new undertaking in a genuine setting. VR guides workers through methodology intelligently, demonstrating when they are wrong and indicating them with right sequences of operations. In this project, a monitor-based VR application is developed in Unity 3D for VR training in industrial equipment maintenance for oil and gas industry. This work also investigates the use of immersive virtual reality for training system in workshop maintenance at oil and gas industry in Kuwait. Result for validation on the developed apps for desktop VR is positive. For overall evaluation, the developed app is giving benefits in practice.
