Petrofac's flirtation with the deepwater installation market may have come to a costly end before it really began as the company has terminated the contract for its US $800m vessel. Back in 2013 (see AOG 28 February 2013), Petrofac decided to invest in its own offshore installation capacity to help it "build a first tier contractor" bidding for deepwater projects in both West and East Africa.
