The board of Angolan national oil company Sonangol has given the thumbs up to Chevron's decision to award the South N'Dola platform contract to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). With contract awards having slowed in Angola, the decision to approve the winner shows that Sonangol is willing to push local content to one side on occasion in favour of economics. As previously revealed by AOG, DSME has returned to KBR for its engineering partner after a brief flirtation with Mustang for its last major platform victory in the country-Mafumeira Sul.
