Germany: SUV-Crossovers narrowly fail to dethrone Small-Sector cars as Germany's 2nd biggest segment

Halfway into a markedly better than earlier feared car sales year, with sales rising by between 2.6 per cent this January and 12.9 per cent in June, Germany's more confident consumers have continued to pile into trendy SUV-Crossovers. In so doing, the market has narrowly missed to set a new milestone. A sign of the times, this June SUV-Crossovers not only posted the largest growth in market share - up by close on 2 percentage points - the sector came within a whisker of dethroning the Polo-dominated Small-Sector as Germany's second biggest new car segment.
