Mercedes, the vehicle subsidiary of Germany's Daimler group, and currently ranked third in the global prestige sector car league behind leading BMW and second placed Audi, last week confirmed its intention to also build the next generation of its compact A- and B-Class cars at its sprawling Rastatt car plant in southwest Germany.
