First cool breeze after months of heat: China's June car sales point to cooler 2nd half, still tracking 10m plus sales this year

CHINA'S closely monitored car market, after starting the year with yet another bang, has slowed notably as the year has progressed. June sales rose 19.4 per cent, slowing the rate of advance during the tell-tale 2nd quarter to 28.3 per cent. That compares with a still sizzling 61.4 per cent rate of growth during this year's opening quarter. Beijing's efforts to take some heat out of China's previously sizzling economy is expected to lead to a further moderate cooling in second half car sales.
