The pace of growth in North American jet fuel demand ratcheted up to nearly 8% in September as the US, Canada and Mexico posted strong gains from early-summer trends. Consumption climbed to 1.87 million barrels per day, with the US leading the gain in volume terms. Liftings at airports on the Gulf Coast were especially strong in late-summer, partly offsetting weaker trends at airfields along the East Coast. Double-digit gains in Canada and Mexico propelled fuel needs to 163,000 b/d and 79,000 b/d, respectively.
