It’s no secret that locking in demand in fast-growing con- sumer markets in Asia is a key priority for major Mideast oil producers, given the region’s significance as the last bastion of significant oil demand growth. Stiff competition for market access has seen Saudi Aramco move quickly to double its global refining capacity to 10 million barrels per day over the coming decade, in large part by lining up investments in new and existing refinery and chemical projects in Asia that would rely on Saudi crude as a feed- stock.
