Self-management of a Female Caregiver End-Life Care of a Husband With Alzheimer's Disease

This article is part of a larger study conducted in Basle funded by the Swiss National Fund. In this publication, we analyze an individual case of caregiving during 8 years (1999-2007). This analysis focuses on the self-management, empowerment, and quality of life of the female caregiver as compared with international findings on end-life care and dementia. The results show that there is a lack of publications on empowerment, self-management, caregivers, end-life care, and dementia. Additional research in this area would help provide best practices to improve the quality of life of caregivers.
