Going electric actuates 89% energy savings

A Danish manufacturer of plastic storage systems has slashed cost of the energy needed to run its welding and injection-moulding machines by up to 89% by converting from pneumatic to electric actuation. It has also reduced the need for maintenance, and boosted its productivity. The sound of air leaking from ageing pneumatic actuators at a Danish plastics plant represented a potential impact on the company's profit. When Raaco International started producing plastic storage systems 60 years ago, pneumatic actuators were the technology of choice for automating injection moulding and semi-automatic welding lines.
