Impact of allergy and asthma on quality of life and comparison with other diseases.

Generic health-related quality of life (HRQoL) instruments demonstrate that allergic respiratory disease is associated with significant reductions in QoL. We performed a multicenter, cross-sectional study designed to calculate the QoL among patients selected to start subcutaneous immunother-apy (SCIT) for grass pollen and/or house dust mite allergy by using three instruments: a disease-specific questionnaire, the Rhino-conjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ), and two generic instruments, the 15D and EQ-5D questionnaires about HRQoL. The study recruited 254 patients, 248 (97.3%) of whom were diagnosed with rhinoconjunctivitis with or without asthma and 127 (49.8%) with rhinoconjunctivitis alone (1).
