Variability of HLA-G5 and HLA-G1 Detected in Maternal Blood Plasma,Follicular Fluid and Embryo Samples from Patients Undergoing IVF Treatment

The expression of soluble HLA-G5 (sHLA-G5) by human preimplantation embryos in culture has been associated with faster cleavage and successful implantation of the embryo. However, sHLA-G5 mRNA has not been identified during early preimplantation development before activation of the embryonic genome. This has led to the hypothesis that the observed sHLA-G expression in preimplantation embryos may be of maternal origin.
