FORD S-MAX AND GALAXY GO ULTRA LOW

S-MAX and Galaxy Hybrid people carriers are set to arrive in 2021, and Ford is spending almost ￡37 million to upgrade its Valencia plant in order to build them. The investment will include two new assembly lines to manufacture lithium-ion batteries for the duo, as well as hybrid versions of the Kuga SUV. Both the S-MAX and Galaxy will share the same 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine, electric motor and water-cooled battery pack. The latter is mounted in a 'crash absorbent, waterproof structure beneath the vehicle's underbody'. This means interior space is unaffected, with the same cargo volume for the Galaxy Hybrid as the diesel version.
