Catalytic reforming has been a staple in petroleum refining since 1949. Refiners are looking for catalyst innovations that improve continuous catalyst regeneration (CCR) reforming unit performance. Since the introduction of a proprietary high-density catalyst" for CCRreforming operations, the global trend has shifted to using high-density catalysts. The proprietary high-density catalyst has been used in more than 125 unit loads since its introduction in 2004. Global reformate demand continues to increase for gasoline and aromatics. For regions with above-average market demand for reformate, refiners can build a new unit or debottleneck an existing unit. High-density catalysts are an easy debottleneck-ing solution that can produce more high-octane gasoline and additional aromatics for petrochemicals production, with little to no capital expenditure.
