Extracting business value from digitalization in oil and gas

Most oil and gas companies are investing in digitalization; however, they often fail to move beyond proof of value (PoV) or pilot projects. Condition monitoring has been one of the early use cases for digitalization, providing a clear return on investment (ROI) that can be leveraged to expand digitalization to other areas of the business. Few companies have fully invested in digital predictive maintenance (PdM) because of several challenges, including un-instrumented assets, security, lack of a standard wireless network and integration with legacy systems. The following are key factors that can set up a program for success and allow scaling past the pilot stage.
