Garden centres and nurseries must follow the direction of travel towards sustainability to meet changing customer demands, according to Dr David Bek, a reader in sustainable economics at Coventry University. Bek has extensive experience researching sustainability in horticultural supply chains, especially cut flowers. He is particularly interested in developing an evidence base to demonstrate how innovations in sustainability practice can lead to improvements in businesses' resilience, productivity and profitability.
