Arecent paper (doi.org/10.1093/ forestry/cpz054) by the Urban Forest Research Group, part of Forest Research, puts forward a framework against which the sus-tainability of Britain's urban forests can be assessed—and on this it finds current ones lacking in some key respects. "British urban forests couldimprove in sustainability," the paper concludes. "The management of the urban forest is typically reactive. It needs to become proactive."
