TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE SELF Mecacci and Haselager's (2014) proposal is to reduce maladaptation after DBS treatment by revising the patient's conceptual scheme of the self. We are sympathetic to such an approach, but we want to point out two problems, both of which concern Mecacci and Haselager's notion of self.
