The past 12 months have seen three HSE prosecutions involving workers exposed to the chlorinated solvent methylene chloride, also known as dichloromethane or DCM. One case resulted in a tragic fatality, while the other two saw workers who had been overcome by the vapours ultimately rescued in tinre by colleagues. By good fortune they recovered.
