Design, engineering and manufacturing of heavy-duty conveyor-belt pulleys

In the Rhenish lignite area, RWE Power AG operates three opencast mines that produce some 90 million tons of lignite per year. The lignite mined is used in the Company's own power plants to generate electricity and in its own factories to make refined products. Mining lignite in opencast operations requires an additional 450 mill, m3 of overburden to be moved each year. Lignite and overburden are extracted using continuous mining equipment in the form of bucket-wheel excavators and transported by belt conveyors.
