Lamprell cuts steel on second ARO newbuild

Lamprell and International Maritime Industries(IMI)have cut steel on the second of two newbuild jackups for ARO Drilling at Lamprell's Hamriyah facilities.The two rigs are being built collaboratively between IMI and Lamprell,with Lamprell's share of project value amounting to around USD 350 million.Most of the fabrication work is taking place at Lamprell's UAE facilities,traning IMI personnel to become rig experts before the units are commissioned in 2022 at the Saudi Arabia facility.The rigs will be based on the LeTourneau Super 116E Class design.Upon delivery,each unit is expected to commence an eight-year contract with Saudi Aramco and operate at a day rate determined by a six-year EBITDA payback.
