Rig demand is expected to increase by approximately 13.8% between 2019 and 2021 as the market slowly emerges from its prolonged downturn, with an average demand of 480 units in 2019 climbing to 546 units in 2021. Jackup demand is expected to make up a large majority of the increase, growing by 11.0% from 345 units on average in 2019 to 383 units in 2021. On the floater side, semi demand could increase from 72 units to 86 (19.4%), while drillship demand is forecast to increase from 64 units to 77 (20.3%).
