LNG imports into the key Northeast Asian market dropped in February as near-full inventories prompted buyers to cut term offtake to contract minimums and back off from spot purchases,helping drive down Asian spot prices-although China bucked the trend. Downstream gas consumption was crimped by a warmer-than-expected Northern Hemisphere winter,which typically draws to a close in the first half of March,slower economic growth and competition from alternative fuels.That reduced send-out from regasification facilities and storage tanks.
