A study was carried out on calcarious soil under furrow irrigation system, at Banger El-Sukker district, located at the west of Alexandria Govrnorate, Egypt, during the summer seasons of 2001 and 2002 to evaluate the effects of four water irrigation regimes through different growth phases of tomato plants (regular irrigation every 10 days during all growth phases, irrigation prevention for 20 days at vegetative, flowering and fruit set stages) and six fertilization treatments (0, 30 m~3 cattle manure. 10 m~3 chicken manure, 45 P_2O_5, 30m~3 cuttle manure + 45kg P_2O_5, 10 m~3 cattle manure+45kg P_2O_5 fed~(-1).) on productivity and quality of tomato crop. The results revealed that irrigular irrigation regimes during vegetative, flowering or fruit set stage caused reduction on early yield, yield plant~(-1) and total yield fed . Meanwhile irrigular irrigation during flowering and fruit set stage resulted in the highest fruit firmness, T.S.S%, titraUible acidity and vitamin C contents in tomato fruits. The dual application of 30 m~3 cattle manure and 45 kg P_2O_5 fed~(-1).gave the highest early yield, yield plant~(-1), total yield fed ., average fruit weight and vitamin C content in fruits. It could be recommended the use of this particular fertilization treatment to reduce the deleterious effects of irrigular irrigation regime, during all growth phases, on yield, and fruit quality of tomato.
