EUROPEAN UNION:Food Labelling: New Rules Come into Force for the Indication of the Country of Origin, or Place of Provenance, of the Primary Ingredient of a Food

New EU rules laid down in Regulation (EU) 2018/7751 came into force with effect from 1 April 2020 requiring food businesses to label foods with the country of origin or place of provenance of primary ingredients. These requirements, set out in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/775, apply alongside existing rules in the EU Regulation, (No. 1169/2011- the FIR), on the provision of food information to consumers.
