On the Pulse of the Processes: Implementing Sensor Systems in Wiring Harness Production

As sensors are becoming increasingly smaller and cheaper, they can be used in many areas of production. In wiring harness production, sensors contribute to the optimization of the production process on four different levels. Sensor systems play a central role in the rapidly advancing digitization of industrial production. They are one of the core elements of the Internet of Things (IoT), where they are used for measuring and controlling changes to the corresponding objects. This includes temperature, humidity, vibration, motion and acceleration, and also chemical states such as the CO_2 or oxygen content of an entity. Using communication devices, the sensors can communicate with IoT platforms so that the data can be processed in real time. There are now numerous platforms of this kind available for recording, processing and communicating the corresponding data for industrial applications.
