Over the past decade, the nation has seen tremendous economic growth and is emerging to be one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The growth of an economy brings with it the rise of industrial activity, manufacturing, trade and more. All of this will requires a strong backbone of the power sector to function efficiently, which in turn is going to be defined by the availability of skilled personnel.India presently stands short of well-trained, skill workers having only 2.3% of the workforce who have undergone formal training (as per the government estimates) in comparison to 80% in Japan, 75% in Germany, 68% in UK and 52% in US. The power sector also faces an enormous shortage of workers with sufficient competencies. To help bridge this skill gap and to support the reforms and driving change management initiatives through capacity building, Tata Power-DDL which has been the frontrunner in implementing power distribution reforms in the capital city and is acknowledged for its record AT&C loss reduction, Information Technology adoption, customer service excellence, employee orientation, technological advancements leading to IT-OT integration, smartgrid implementation and safety procedures amongst others has established the Tata Power-DDL Learning Centre -CENPEID. Tata Power-DDL carries the distinction of being the first success story of Power Sector reforms in Delhiunder the Public Private Partnership (PPP) framework and is acknowledged for its superlative performance. The Company has been conferred with several accolades including the 'National Award for Meritorious Performance five times by the Ministry of Power, Govt, of India and has been recognised as '2nd Best in Class - Energy, Oil and Gas Industry' by the Great Place to Work Institute, India.
