A great deal of effort has been invested over many years to ensure the safety of linecrews manually operating various devices installed on power supply systems. However, sporadic accidents whether caused by a human error, deficient equipment or any other unfortunate circumstance, are a perpetual reminder of shortcomings. At the same time, these shortcomings drive and inspire the search for new and better ways to resolve system problems.Pole top transformers are usually connected to the high voltage supply network via a fuse cutout. The fuse cutout is a protective device that will operate to prevent escalation of the damage that could result from any current exceeding the rated value for some period of time as reflected in the protective characteristic of the proper fuse link selected for each specific application.
