Climate change is a major concern worldwide — making headlines and mobilizing the world's leaders to take action. For example, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change's (UNFCCC) Paris Agreement aims to lead the global response against the threat of climate change by keeping a global temperature increase "below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius." The agreement has been ratified or acceded by 185 states and the EU, representing more than 88% of total global greenhouse gas emissions.
