Prof.Dr.Dieter Seebach was born on October 31,1937 in Karlsruhe,Germany,and studied chemistry under Prof.Rudolf Criegee at the University of Karlsruhe,where he completed his Ph.D.thesis in 1964.He went on to Harvard University to spend two years under the supervision of Prof.E.J.Corey as a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer before returning to Karlsruhe to work on his "Habilitation" in 1969.
