The need for rapid synthesis of small organic molecules in high purity has spawned a number of new approaches to conducting reactions and separations in recent years.Among these,the fluorous approach has emerged as an especially general and powerful alternative to traditional solution-phase synthesis and to solid-phase synthesis,because it unites many of the most attractive features of both types of synthesis.
