A guide to companion animal prescription writing

In response to requests from Veterinary Ireland members, VICAS is teaming up with the Recent Graduate Working Group (RGWG) to develop a short series of articles on the writing of veterinary prescriptions. This first part of this series will deal withprescription writing for small-animal practitioners and will be followed next month by a second section on prescription writing in the RGWG section of the Veterinary Ireland Journal. Companion animal prescription writing is, perhaps, a bit easier, or less complex, regarding record keeping and legislation in comparison to that required for production animals. This article aims to cover the basics of what, why, when, where, and how of small-animal prescription writinq.
