Cam Robertson has experienced firsthand the changes that have occurred in the oil and gas sector. As a maintenance technician specializing in valves and valve maintenance for Inter Pipeline, Robertson states that with these changes have come challenges: from influencing purchasing decisions to dealing with parts obsolescence and lack of vendor technical support. A pipe fitter by trade, Cam Robertson worked in a number of facilities before finding his niche in a natural gas extraction plant in Cochrane, Alberta. The plant is owned by Inter Pipeline, a petroleum transportation, storage and natural gas liquids processing business. Inter Pipeline owns and operates four business segments operating in western Canada and Europe, with pipeline systems that span over 7,700 kilometers in length, including the Cold Lake and Polaris pipelines, and its natural gas liquids (NGL) processing business is one of the largest in Canada.
