Severe service fugitive emissions: Packing for quarter turn applications

There are a multitude of stem sealing solutions utilized throughout severe service, flow control applications. This article will explore various stem sealing solutions and the reasons one might choose them. We will dive further into the intricacies of typical severe service applications, high-cycle severe service applications and what happens when a valve must become fast-acting. We will also explore limitations of a common fugitive emissions specification (ISO 15848) and how ValvTechnologies has addressed these in the development of the EcoPack fugitive emissions system for severe service applications. But, before we get there, we must first discuss the difference in quarter turn and rising stem valves.
