Influence of working temperature in a metal seated ball valve actuator sizing

When sizing an actuator for an industrial valve application many factors need to be taken into consideration such as torque, pressure or operational conditions. In this study we have added the factor of higher torque due to higher ambient temperatures. As mentioned in the intro, there are several factors that need to be taken into consideration: valve torques at BTO, RTO, ETO and BTC, RTC, ETC, function of the design pressure; the valve arrangement (floating ball or trunnion mounted, fixed seat or spring loaded, stem seal solution, kind of seat material, etc.); actuator torque values at same points; minimum and maximum actuator supply pressure: the MAST for valve stem; the kind of service (ESD, BDV, On-Off etc.); the number of operations per day; the physical properties of handled media.
