MKT: Statistics-Tractors: Q4 sees collapse of tractor business

India-Domestic tractor sales during the final quarter of FY2019-20 (i.e. January to March 2020) slumped by 65.4% to just 6,796 units compared with 19,644 units in the same quarter of the previous year (FY2018-19). Tractor production fell by 67.8% overall from 16,807 units to 5,412 units and exports almost halved, down by 48.7%. The light-weight tractor (26.4 tons < GVW ≤ 35.2 tons) segment saw domestic sales shrink by 51.0% to 1,285 units in Q4/2019-20 from 2,621 units in the Q4 of FY 2018-19. Exports also contracted massively, by 67.9%, and output slumped by 70.9%. The light-heavy-duty tractor segment (35t < GCW < 40t), a small segment, saw sales shrink by a colossal 92.0% to 432 units in the Q4/2019-20 from 5,393 units in the same quarter of 2018-19. Production decreased by 96.6% and exports fell by 35.6%.
