BIZ: Project TECH: Infrastructure: India to pilot electric highway on Delhi- Mumbai Expressway

New Delhi/Mumbai-The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which has been under construction since March 2019, a new 8-lane highway covering 1,250km with controlled-access to reduce journey times from 24 hours to 12 hours, is to be amended to a 12 lane highway with provision for a dedicated electric line or lane in each direction with overhead electric cabling to power trucks and buses through pantograph systems. A budget of an estimated USD13.16bn has been allocated for this electrification project!
