Saskatchewan fourth Canadian province to allow wide-base single tyres for heavy trucks

Canada - Michelin North America (Canada) Inc has praised Saskatchewan on becoming Canada's fourth province to enact regulations that permit the trucking industry to adopt fuel-efficient wide-base single heavy-truck tyres. The single, wide tyre (445mm by 455mm) is used to replace the conventional dual tyres on trucks. The tyres, says Michelin, increases payload capacity, by increasing total payload from 7,700kg per axle to 8,500kg, while simultaneously reducing its green-house gas emissions - the savings, Michelin states is the equivalent to removing 1.8 cars off the road for every heavy truck.
